Ten days into the New Years and I hope everyone is still holding strong to their resolutions! Eating healthy and improving your health is always top of the list come the new year. With that in mind, you don't have to ditch your favorite foods. Sometimes you just need to indulge and sometimes you need to make some alterations to get your fix. This is my take on a penne primavera, with all the delicious taste and low calories.
Ingredients: Whole wheat penne pasta Broccoli Spinach Carrots White onion Minced garlic Pepper/Salt Low fat Alfredo sauce Chicken breast Crushed red pepper Directions: Begin by seasoning your chicken with garlic, salt, pepper and crushed red pepper. Bake in air fryer. While chicken is cooking, dice your vegetables and cook in a sauté pan with minced garlic, pepper and salt. Boil your water and cook pasta to your liking. When finished, toss your pasta with vegetables and cube chicken. Add 3 tsp of Alfredo sauce. Mix and enjoy!

I hate to be that person, but it's the truth. Life got in the way, and my writing had to take a small step back. In the recent months, I've had a lot of change. A lot. Great change, though. New job, new home, new opportunities. It is everything I have wanted for myself, and needed, for a long time. With all of that being said, my writing had to take a small step back. She had to sit on the back burner for just a little bit. Which, if I'm also being honest, did not like. I am a creative person. I love to write. It is what I do, it is who I am. But some other things had to come first. Now that life has settled down and the coast is clear, there are a lot of new updates to come! So I figured, let's detail them here first and watch what happens. Mom, They're Only Boobs is coming back this winter! A new journal will be available for purchase on Amazon Worksheets and guides will be available for download A new book will be available for purchase on Amazon Blog and articles will be back to being posted weekly! XO Sarahfina I felt like "kill" could be a bit harsh. But in all honesty, it's true. It may not murder you in broad daylight, but it will sneak up on you at some point. Your comfort zone is created merely for comfort, like, duh. That is your zone. It's where you can feel most safe. It's the spot on the couch that you can snuggle up in after a long day at work. It's the same coffee spot you stop at every Saturday morning before the gym. It's your girls nights with loads of wine, where you cant vent and set your thoughts free. It can look a lot like self care. The difference is that, while it's comfortable it isn't helping you grow. It isn't helping you change. Some things don't need that type of attention, like the phrase "why fix what's not broken". But in reality, plenty can need some fixing, your comfort zone is just keeping you at peace with it.
I felt this way a lot with work and relationships. I was comfortable. It was a salary. It was a boyfriend to call my own. Both were not up to my standards but it felt much better to stay in my comfort than to fear the unknown. But the universe has a funny way of tapping you on your shoulder, until you can no longer ignore it. The tap turns into a nudge, into a push, into a full blown kick down the stairs. I have found when things continuously repeat themselves like thoughts in my mind, that gut feeling, signs I feel being sent to me, even repetition within conversations, it's time for a change. The title is true. "Your comfort zone will kill you". It can. And it sure will if you allow it. Living in a world of comfort is well, comfortable. But it isn't exciting. It isn't new. It isn't motivating. And it is not what dreams are based off of. Your comfort zone is your starting ground. It's your home base. It can be the place you resort back to after a long day of working towards those goals. But it can't be where you spend your long day. You deserve excitement, new and motivation. You do. And while your comfort zone is warm, soft and cuddly, it isn't where goals are hit. So how do you get out of it? How do you escape your comforts and go for something you've never achieved? First, recognize the change you want. Is it in your job? Your relationship? Your health? Identify it first, then let's try these; 1. Start with baby steps: If it is to improve your health try cutting just 1 bad habit out or food like adding almond milk instead of whole milk to your coffee everyday, or getting to bed earlier every night. 2. What is holding you back: For me, it was fear overall. Identifying what keeps you in your comfort zone can help you better understand yourself, and where you're currently at. 3. Give yourself a timeline: We are more likely to attain goals when we have a deadline, so find a reasonable one that works for you and put it in your calendar, or somewhere that you'll see daily as a constant reminder. 4. Vision board: Seeing is believing. Making a vision board can help you visualize these new goals and keep you from settling back into your zone and same mindset. 5. Mindset is everything: Once you've identified your change and proceeded to all four steps, this is the major component to pull you out of that comfort zone and into something new, different and exciting. When you can change your mindset to a positive one, knowing you deserve what you're going after becomes a lot easier. This could mean meditation, journaling, self help books, podcasts, therapy, yoga, or a combination of all. Whatever works best for you, is what is best for, you. Tastttttttty. This is one of those "I don't feel like cooking" recipes that has turned into an easy go to, often. It's what most of us have in our cabinets and while it isn't the typical "super healthy" dinner, it has a balance of carbs, protein, fats and veggies! You can make so many variations of this dish, but what I have always found is that I always have fresh or frozen spinach on hand, a box of whole wheat or chickpea pasta, and chicken or shrimp either thawed out or in the freezer. So make any changes you want and comment them below!
(This recipe was made for two people) Ingredients: 2 chicken breasts 1 box of whole wheat fettuccini Fresh garlic Olive oil 1 bag of fresh spinach or 1/2 bag of frozen spinach Lemon juice Directions: In a pan begin to simmer olive oil with garlic minced and fresh spinach. In a separate pan, season your chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder and a cap full of lemon juice. At the same time, boil your water and put in pasta once it's ready. Once your pasta is cooked and drained, add it to the pan with oil and spinach. Mix around and allow to simmer for 5 minutes. Remove chicken from the pan once it's cooked through and slice. Serve pasta into bowls, adding chicken on top. Add parmesan cheese and enjoy! One of my quickest recipes yet one of my healthiest. I'm always down for a meal that's quick, easy and healthy. You can swap the steak out for any protein of your liking, and add as many or as little veggies as you want. I used what I had and what worked best with my current diet regimen. Check it out below!
Ingredients: Steak of choice Fresh spinach Cucumber Red onion Balsamic vinaigrette Raw mushrooms Salt/Pepper/Garlic powder Directions: Season your steak, and cook to your liking. Next in a bowl layer your spinach first. Follow by slicing your remaining vegetables and adding to your spinach. Add balsamic and then steak on top. Enjoy! |
